Maintenance Lubricator

Job Purpose:

The Lubricating Technician plays a significant role in preserving and improving the reliability of plant machines and systems by delivering/supporting precise machine lubrication throughout the facility.

This position is responsible for routine lubrication with oil and grease, executing lubricant contamination control practices, conducting machine inspections, servicing and troubleshooting, automatic lubrication systems, and conducting oil analysis (sample collection and handling, resolution of issues) for all lubricated mechanical systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

* Participate in the continuous route improvement and creation
* Grease lubrication with manual and automatic dispensing equipment
* Filling, topping off, changing filters/breathers, draining, and cleaning reservoirs.
* Operating filtration and water removing equipment.
* Maintenance of dispensing equipment and automatic systems.
* Collect oil samples for analysis and perform basic evaluation of oil condition and recommend current and future maintenance actions.
* Perform basic mechanical modification of systems as directed to facilitate sampling and filtration, and other proactive improvements.
* Labeling and tagging reservoirs, equipment, inventory and delivery containers.
* Printing and fulfilling planned lubrication activities including use of tools and equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions.
* Update scheduling systems, including adding notes to system and requesting work.
* Requests for maintenance repairs and activities.
* Troubleshoot common lubrication-related procedural and equipment problems.
* Coordination of inventory and routine ordering of products and stocking inventory locations.
* Report in writing any discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive or planned maintenance for production systems.
* Other activities as defined by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


* Basic computer literacy, including the capability to operate standard email, spreadsheets, word processing and moderately complex software used for lubrication scheduling and oil analysis functions.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Capability to read and interpret technical documents, such as OEM Technical Manuals and Blue prints
* Capability of performing basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) for the purpose of interpreting alarms, calculating lubricant inventory and calculating relubrication quantity considerations.
* Certified/Qualified to operate lifting equipment (Fork Truck, Hoist, Etc.)
* Certified/Qualified to perform lockout-tag out procedures and confined space entry.
* Have a strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and circulating systems operation, and contamination control and maintenance functions.
* Demonstrated initiative and strong work habits.
* Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively.
* Ability to work safely around operating equipment in noisy, hot, wet, dirty, oily and greasy environments.
* Proficient with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

The mental and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Position requires attention to detail and being on feet all day. Frequent lifting of 25 lbs or more. Work is performed inside and outside while always conscious of the safety hazards prevalent in the area.
