Maintenance Planner/Scheduler

Position Summary

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Maintenance Planner is responsible for all aspects of planning and scheduling work in a safe and efficient manner on a daily basis for up to 20 Mechanics and Electricians.  As a member of the Maintenance Department, the Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Conducts maintenance planning for multiple supervisors and up to 20 Maintenance Technicians by:  (60%)

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Developing detailed job plans including the labor (type and quantity), materials, tools, and work procedures for repairs, alterations, and preventative maintenance efforts related to facilities and equipment to meet the objectives of the work request;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Setting-up and maintaining any preventive maintenance work orders established in the Company’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including: job plans, frequency of work, crafts, man-hours, and parts/tools required;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Managing and maintaining the work flow process (work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and auditing);
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Entering all employees, schedules, and exceptions in the CMMS;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintaining work order backlog of work for specific areas of the plant, including:
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reviewing all new work requests entered in the CMMS for applicability, correctness, and clarity;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Cleaning up, evaluating, and managing the backlog; and
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Capturing and recording necessary equipment and material history;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Running reports so the Maintenance Manager can monitor the daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working with the Maintenance Manager to achieve compliance of plant and corporate defined specifications;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Touring the plant and all facilities to interact with production, quality, safety, and maintenance to help drive cultural change and to ensure appropriate work is being performed and customer’s needs are being meet; and
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reviewing previous days work packages to check for follow up work and to ensure work orders are correctly closed out.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Facilitates wash-up day planning and follow-up by:  (20%)

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leading the planning and scheduling of wash-up days;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leading the “down-day 7 (DD-7), “down-day 3 (DD-3), and “What Went Right/What Went Wrong” meetings;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Preparing a Gantt chart for all wash up day activities, to include production, clean up crew, electrical, and mechanical personnel;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Participating in the wash-up day half-time meetings;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Conducting time studies to improve efficiency of production, maintenance, and clean up crews as related to wash-up day performance;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Incorporating plant delay items into weekly wash-ups;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Completing scorecard for each wash-up day; and
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Providing accurate man-hours for each wash-up day, by craft, to facilitate decision-making.

 

 

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Directs the operation of the storeroom as it relates to maintenance planning and scheduling by:  10%)

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Generating purchase requests for non-stocked parts and tools to support the plan;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Developing storeroom organization surrounding parts kitting, to include shelving, locations, storage kits, and markings;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working with storeroom personnel to ensure we have the right parts, at the right price, when the part is needed;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working with storeroom personnel to ensure inventories are maintained at the lowest practical levels; and
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ensuring all work orders have parts kitted.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provides Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Administration including:  (10%)

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Providing plant support and training;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Updating equipment hierarchies;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Task and instruction generation;
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Generating performance reports; and
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working with corporate reliability team to roll program out in the plant.

The Maintenance Planner has lead responsibility for the Storeroom Attendant and the Material Handler positions.

 

Scope of Position:

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Maintenance Planner is responsible for all short and long-term scheduling and planning of maintenance activities.  The Maintenance Planner, working closely with the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Supervisors, Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Engineer, and the Storeroom Attendant, reviews all work requests and determines objectives of the jobs, develops detailed job plans including the labor (type and quantity), materials, tools, and work procedures for repairs, alterations, and preventative maintenance for the facility and all types of equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS), such as MP2 or similar system.

Required:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent maintenance planning experience. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">3 or more years of maintenance experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Electrical and mechanical background (preferred).
