As a James Hardie Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager you will be professionally challenged and tasked with the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and success of our business. This is an exciting time for James Hardie and you could play a key part by providing expertise and counseling for all safety related issues affecting plant operations. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will be based out of Plant City, FL at our manufacturing facility.




  • Coach and counsel managers to better develop skills to improve crews and managers engagement in the safety process
  • Ensure compliance with State and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory requirements
  • Provide direction on improvement strategies and feedback on safety performance to the Plant Management Team and Supervisors on an on-going basis
  • Promote overall safety awareness and compliance within the facility
  • Manage and facilitate the plant Safety Education Program
  • Promote and expand Zero Harm culture initiative


  • Dynamic leader with proven ability to build enthusiasm and commitment for floor-based safety culture.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software)
  • Ability to coach personnel on how to thoroughly investigate accidents and development of effective corrective action recommendations
  • Strong case management skills
  • Bias toward hands-on involvement with every level of the plant organization and strong floor presence
  • Ability to understand, comply with and communicate state or federal safety and health OSHA regulations and EPA regulations
  • Ability to coach personnel on how to perform audits of job sites, manufacturing, and plant operations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver sustainable and superior results
  • Knowledge and ability to update safety policies and procedures manuals
  • Ability to manage the flow of all required reports and documentation
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to assist with and coordinate safety-related training as needed



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or a related field preferred
  • Three plus years experience managing safety culture initiatives, incidents, safety training, and employee safety committees.
  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience working as an EH&S professional
  • Experience leading, mentoring and coaching in manufacturing organizations
