Date: May 5, 2021

Location: Chicago, IL, US

Company: James Hardie

Warehouse &Shipping Engineer

The WH & SH Engineer is responsible for discovering, planning, and executing projects within our network of warehouse and shipping operations.  The WH & SH Engineer targets infrastructure gaps in our current facilities to enable a safer and more efficient operation. This role’s projects will focus on: the flow of trucks and forklifts within our operations, unlocking shipment capabilities for different modes of transportation (rail, van, flatbed, drop trailer), warehouse infrastructure and design, and removing fixed risk in our operation to help achieve Zero Harm. This individual will need to be able to provide an accurate assessment of our current operations, identify opportunities, draw and plan solutions, and execute construction projects with local contractors and our plants. The role will need to be cross functional not only across the network of plants, but also with 3rd party contractors and local governments to ensure the execution of the construction work is done efficiently and safely. At first this individual will be asked to execute projects already identified by James Hardie while they begin to learn and understand our business. Over time the individual will be expected to find opportunities within the network and put forward a plan to address these opportunities. Having the ability to manage construction projects that build towards a long-term facility plan is critical to this role’s success. This role reports into the Supply Chain Super Highway organization centrally, who currently owns these projects, but will work remotely in a plant and travel throughout the network as needed.
