Sales Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Manager role works within the Commercial Project Management Organization, leading a wide variety of short-medium term projects driving core business strategies.  The types of projects will include, but are not limited to; new product launches, customer promotions, program development, in-market strategy implementation, training and supply chain optimization. 

The role builds cross-functional teams to effectively plan, develop, implement and track critical projects in line with the customer’s expectations and JH business objectives. The Project Manager should expect to work with, and hold accountable, all levels of the organization. This role will also interact with external stakeholders such as customers, end users, and vendors. This position has a responsibility to evaluate their projects and recommend continuous improvements. This person will report to the Sr. Manager, Sales Operations, based in Chicago.


Position Responsibilities

  • Manage 2-3 commercial projects with some time on smaller projects and ad-hoc analysis / reporting
  • Build cross-functional project plans with internal / external stakeholders, establish key deliverables, assign tasks, manage budget, communicate progress, and hold the business accountable to the desired result
  • Effectively organize James Hardie resources (people, time, money) within scope and on budget
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn & leverage project management software that will support the effective execution of the work
  • Draw conclusions and insights from data, while recommending key adjustments and escalating issues

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required):

  • Able to lead complex projects through to completion leveraging a structured PM process
  • Navigate a matrixed organization to drive accountability, achieve goals and solve problems
  • Capable of building a strong internal network and influencing all levels of the organization
  • Personal organizational and time management skills
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Synthesize data to provide meaningful insights and takeaways
  • Adaptable to changes and effectively work within new structures, processes or requirements
  • Proven written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to travel 20% of the time. Travel requirements will vary by project


Education/Experience (required):

Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business or related field (PMP helpful, but not required) and 2+ years’ leading complex commercial sales & marketing projects through to completion




4+ years of proven project management experience with demonstrated capability in leading complex projects through to completion.
