The Network Planning Coordinator (Planning Analyst) is responsible for integrating the production planning at local facilities with the overall business strategy across the entire plant network. The NPC will need to balance manufacturing efficiency at the plants with business goals such as maintaining high customer service. This requires strong collaboration between the local production planners and the central planning team to make sure the best business outcome is achieved. The incumbent also plays a key role between customer service and manufacturing by ensuring an effective flow of communication as to product shipment and service requests. The Network Planning Coordinator reports to the Planning Manager.

Position Responsibilities

Coordinates production scheduling with local plant planners to enable high service of make items and recognizes capacity constraints within manufacturing facilities to maintain high service at lowest landed cost: (50%)

  • Manage weekly meetings with local plant planners to create optimized production schedules.
  • Coordinate with capacity team to help balancing out demand and supply at production facilities.
  • Work with customer operations team to make sure the correct customer orders are being serviced.
  • Escalate service risk within the network and problem solve with central team to mitigate that risk.

Mange plant to plant inventory transfers: (30%)

  • Executing of inter-plant transfers, rail replenishments and order movements to maximize customer service while minimizing freight expenses.
  • Manages all planning tools (offline & APO) including master data to execute effective planning resulting in timely service and reduce/avoid excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Monitors material availability and outbound inter-plant transfer service while managing truck building/rearranging process of inter-plant transfers to support actual customer order service goals.
  • Executes inventory target methodology, analyzes inventory across all manufacturing facilities, ensures compliance to them.
  • Managers projects and initiatives across planning to optimize the network and yield freight-spend savings.

Adhoc analytics and project work to support production efficiency and cost savings. (20%)

Will be involved in projects or help with analytics that could include, but not be limited to

    • Machine optimization through reduced change over
    • Product capability within a plant
    • Transportation mode changes
    • Truck loading optimization


Scope of Position:

Current manufacturing efforts account for $3B of annual revenues produced. The Network Planning Coordinator interacts with the transportation group for planning and execution of inter-plant transfers, truck/rail availability, and must have the ability to work within customer service requirements.

The Network Planning Coordinator spends the majority of his/her time executing and implementing planning best practices for facilities planned to ensure high service and lowest landed cost. Other responsibilities include a medium/long-term extension of managing the demand supply balance for those facilities planned in alignment with the overall network strategy through analysis and communication.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Science, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 or more years in a manufacturing or production planning role
  • Direct supply chain experience.
  • SAP/APO planning experience (preferred).
  • Material Replenishment Program (MRP), deployment, constrained production planning (CPP) and/or replenishment solutions experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues or problems using data and use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing an appropriate solution.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills with the various features of spreadsheet and basic software (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).
  • Knowledge of production planning best practice methodologies for multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with plant personnel to develop action plans in reaction to product/production issues while still ensuring a high-level of customer service.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, transportation, and logistics.
  • Ability to drive adherence to planning best practices and procedures.
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic working relationships while holding others and self-accountable for deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload while paying attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a strong team player.
