Position Summary
The Sr. Marketing Manager will lead a team dedicated to driving growth across all facets of James Hardie’s retail and interiors marketing strategy and execution. They will have worked in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment, where they excelled at bringing a brand to life at shelf, and online.
Ideally, they will have experience in both brand management and retail shopper marketing, inclusive of experience commercializing new product launches in store, online, and through effective engagement of retail sales associates.
Key areas of responsibility include: Brand strategy and positioning, development and execution of strategic marketing plans, product commercialization, media and communications, project management, marketing analytics, and a high-degree of communication and partnership with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within the organization. As a strong cross-functional leader, they will find working with multiple teams exciting and understand how to navigate the complexities that can be associated with big working groups.
Position Responsibilities
- You are the retail marketing expert in North America with a deep understanding of both trade and consumer marketing across online, in-store, and paid media tactics, coupled with a deep understanding of retail merchandising.
- Partner cross-functionally to build strategic retail marketing strategies and holistic activation plans aimed at accelerating account growth.
- Use analytical and strategic thinking skills to provide innovative product and merchandising ideas to drive revenue.
- Lead work needed to develop and/or optimize brand positioning, messaging, creative, and brand health measurement for our interiors products (HardieBacker® cement boards).
- Partner with the brand team to ensure effective MarComms delivery of our exterior product line within the retail environment.
- Partner with Shopper and Digital marketing teams, as well as external retailer Brand Advocates, to position James Hardie to win within retail dot com.
- Lead the design and execution of retail packaging, POP, collateral, and in-aisle activations.
- Partner with strategic accounts and sales to develop best in class training and communication for retail associates.
- Lead the development and execution of paid, owned, and earned media in partnership with advertising agency and digital marketing team.
- Measures, reports out and optimizes the marketing plans based on results.
- Drive the development of the annual retail marketing budget, and manage monthly spend within forecast.
- Lead and mentor direct reports and cross-functional coworkers with confidence, empathy, and your functional expertise.

Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business is preferred
- 12+ years of experience in a corporate marketing environment; with a preferred focus on channel/retail and shopper marketing
- Experience working with Home Depot and Lowe’s (strongly preferred)
- Specific work experience in marketing, sales, advertising, project management, administrative support operations, written communications, and documentation management are highly desirable
- Must be able to create, execute and manage comprehensive integrated marketing campaigns
- Able to manage and motivate people through influence, this person is able to build strong relationships with a wide range of people
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing dynamic new channel/market strategies
- Exceptional verbal and report presentation abilities
- Strong project management skills
