HR Business Partner - Engineering

Position Summary

 

The Human Resources (HR) Business Partner – Central Engineering partners with the Central HR Team to develop employee capabilities and improve performance of business operations within the Central Engineering team. This will include the facilitation and implementation of key HR strategies and client specific initiatives to recruit, retain and develop the workforce located throughout the U.S. In addition, the HR Business Partner will help develop and implement process improvements in the HR department’s service and support to their teams and assist with day to day operations. The incumbent will showcase their communication, employee relations expertise and organizational skills to ensure our internal clients are appropriately supported and able to contribute to the Business strategies and Company’s overall mission and values.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

Business Partnering

  • Work with engineering leaders and HR team to develop and implement HR plans for the business, influencing and contributing to the overall achievement of James Hardie Building Products’ strategy
  • Develop workforce plans to identify future needs
  • Manage annual HR events and communication to functional stakeholders, including but not limited to performance management, employee engagement surveys, talent reviews, etc.
  • Advise and coach at all levels of the organization on HR practices and policies

 

Talent Acquisition and Talent Management

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Hiring Managers throughout the recruiting and onboarding processes, including interviewing, creation of onboarding guides, and first day set up
  • In partnership with Talent Acquisition and Business Leaders, act as business partner to Hardie’s Engineering Development Program and talent pipeline
  • Conduct talent reviews, succession planning, and retention assessments for functional group
  • Work with managers to execute development plans for high potential employees
  • Coach business leaders, supporting them to develop their own leadership capabilities

 

Employee Engagement & Retention

  • Champion and drive Hardie’s Manufacturing Operating System philosophy and company values
  • Act as linkage to external trends, practices and resources
  • Implement and facilitate programs throughout organization to help deliver on our engagement initiatives (i.e. engagement surveys, inclusion & diversity, leadership training)

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Management or related field; Master’s or MBA, preferred
  • 5 years of business experience performing an HR generalist role with exposure to employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, development, and recruitment
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws related to employment; prior experience in California, preferred
  • Experience with various HR Information Systems (ADP, SuccessFactors and Kronos, preferred) and demonstrated skills with respect to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong results orientation and a history of driving positive change with measurable results
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
