Director of Global IS Applications

The Global IS Applications Director is responsible for management and end to end delivery of all corporate applications (SAP FI, HFM, FP&A, etc.) with a strong focus on delivering a sustainable Global template. This position is responsible for all aspects of corporate related requirements across Hardie’s locations. Ensures that specifications and requirements will be met at all times and acts as the first point of contact for GPO (Global Process Owners), SME’s (Subject Matter Experts), Integration Partner and other functional leads. He/she will be responsible for developing and instituting Project Management practices, standards and services in coordination with the Global IT organization. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the SAP FI template, govern on change request from the various global FI teams and be the conduit between IT and the Global FI user community. The Global IS Applications Director will report to the Global VP of IT and have Global SAP technical/functional direct reports.


  • Help develop and manage the IS strategy, prioritize potential investments and drive system implementations.
  • Collaborate with the process owners and leadership to identify investments in relevant technology to drive efficiency and improve service levels. Recommend and implement process improvement/reengineering initiatives.
  • Liaise with IT to drive system enhancements, upgrades and modifications across multiple process areas and segments; ensure architecture supports business requirements.
  • Collaborate to set and monitor service levels and ensure critical IT needs are met, as well as to solve urgent or complex problems or incidents. Serve as liaison to address Service Level Agreement issues when necessary.
  • Prepare and monitor annual corporate related IT budget, in conjunction with VP of IT.
  • Oversee all aspects of the project life cycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure of the project
  • Lead and coach team to perform at their best and ensure resources are utilized appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the User Enablement team to ensure any change management plans related to technology and system enhancements and implementations are developed, implemented and executed.
  • Accountable for ensuring adequate controls and supporting documentation are in place for all metrics measuring IS service delivery performance
  • Monitor and assure achievement of customer service requirements as defined by both formal Service Level Agreements as well as Customer Satisfaction surveys by both captive and outsourced operations.
  • Participate in operating governance committees overseeing individual and combined processes as required.

  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing a large global organization
  • Minimum of 2-3 ERP implementation experience with at-least 1 implementation on SAP FICO preferably in a lead role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Account, Management Information Systems, or related field of study
  • MBA degree is a plus
  • Must be familiar with SAP, HFM and S4 SAP ECC & Hana, as well as MS Office Suite of programs. SAP FI/CO or associated Finance certification preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Strong accounting/finance and project management background.
  • Proven history of building and maintaining excellent client service relationships, interact and partner with all levels of management to help drive collaborative business decisions, strong leadership experience to direct and mentor teams to meet objectives, excellent communication skills, work in a fast-paced environment, and adaptable to business priority changes with ease.
  • Ability to positively confront issues and resolve conflict with sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in managing projects of medium to large scale and implemented change initiatives as a technical expert within a specified product or process area
  • Experience in service delivery in a high performing customer service and support organization
  • Ability to confidently lead and drive cross-functional projects, and individual project tracks of large programs through full delivery life-cycle ensuring project is delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Must be able to lead a team and organization from a strategic level, while managing details on multiple concurrent tasks while meeting various deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work both individually and within a team environment, build strong relationships and maintain rapport with peers, Corporate Finance and Executive teams.
  • Strong focus on operational excellence, lean process management, change management expertise and leadership
