Position Description
As the Director of Total Rewards you will build, design and execute James Hardie’s global
compensation, equity, and benefits programs. Reporting to VP of Total Rewards/ HR
Operations, you will develop thoughtful and innovative compensation and benefit practices that
align with James Hardie’s people goal: to create a diverse, inclusive and ambitious environment
where the best talent can discover and unleash their potential to achieve individual and
collective success.
Skills and Qualifications
· 10+ years of Compensation and Benefits leadership, design and management of global
Total Rewards programs
· Significant experience working at publicly traded, global, and high growth companies
· Excellent business acumen, strong executive presence, and proven ability to influence
internal and external stakeholders
· Experience developing systems and processes to improve efficiency and administration of
total rewards programs
· Ability to leverage data to draw insights and make solid decisions and recommendations
· Ability to work and lead cross-functionally in a dynamic, high growth business environment
· Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization and inspire trust and
confidence both internally and externally


· Ability to manage effectively with ambiguity, manage multiple projects through completion on
time and on budget and to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment
· Build and drive the strategic design and execution of the company’s global compensation,
equity, and benefits programs to align with our growth and people strategy
· Strengthen and communicate James Hardie’s Total Rewards philosophy to enable both
short- term goals and long-term business objectives
· Develop and own comprehensive total rewards materials for employees and candidates,
conveying the ‘what’, the ‘why’, and the ‘how’
· Identify opportunities for James Hardie to evolve and grow their compensation and benefits
practices, including annual compensation reviews through philosophy or greater operational
· Work closely with our Talent Team to build competitive and equitable compensation offers,
while utilizing the knowledge of the evolving talent landscape
· Oversee the company’s global benefits programs including health, relocations, welfare and
retirement programs, ensuring market and cost competitiveness and compliance
· Regularly benchmark company programs and monitor external trends in order to proactively
adjust company plans and programs to ensure market competitiveness
· Serve as the subject matter expert on all topics and industry trends related to Total
Rewards, advise and influence the larger HR department as needed
