Position Overview

As a James Hardie Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair equipment including, but not limited to various types of pumps, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, and drives. You will work with high caliber production, operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime.

  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting/repair and weekly scheduled “down-day” activities
  • Diagnose equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis and communicate actions taken to the maintenance and operations teams
  • Act as first responder for day to day coverage of production line equipment: respond to alarms, breakdowns, and production requests quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Take initiative to improve PM documents and schedules, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and Leads
  • Maintain data in CMMS (computerized maintenance management system); assist Storeroom personnel with spare parts inventory tracking and assessment
  • Establish and maintain best in class housekeeping standards for maintenance areas and while performing maintenance activities on the production floor
  • Lead by example in driving James Hardie’s commitment to a Zero Harm culture in regards to Environmental, Health and Safety practices


Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of industrial maintenance/millwright experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, rebuilding and repairing conveyors, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on a rotating shift
  • Skilled at troubleshooting automation, conveyance, and electromechanical systems
  • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools, as well as general machining and welding
  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Ability to manage multiple priories while contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment
