Job Description: "Position Summary The Technical Manager for JH Research will lead and manage multiple teams of Technologists, Engineers, Manufacturing and Market/Business Development professionals to develop next generation technology and product development projects from concept development, feasibility study, technology/product development through implementation of newly developed technology and launch of new products. The incumbent will own the overall strategy of developing the technology behind the products through the implementation stage and the day to day progress of next generation technology and other product development projects. This position will report to the Director of Research and Development and it has a career path leading to the Director of R&D position. This position is a highly visible position in the organization with exposure to the business as a whole and also a working relationship with the Senior leadership team as well as Product Development leaders, Business Development Managers and other Technical/Functional managers. Position

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and implements strategic and technical direction from the formulation phase through implementation of new and improved technology and or new product development projects by: (50%) • Creating the strategy and the direction for multiple teams of technologists, engineers, manufacturing and market/business development professionals to deliver innovative solutions to existing product lines, new products, and technologies; • Implementing realistic project plans and building appropriate and effective teams to accomplish the project goals; • Managing teams working on formulation and development of new and improved products through the research and development stage; • Driving the JH organization to establish and accomplish detailed project goals ; and • Managing the stage gate process to be able to meet all established milestones and overall objectives. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal colleagues, customers, external vendors and service providers by: (20%) ? Communicating project progress accurately and timely to Technical and Business leaders; ? Collaborating with other technical managers on projects to maximize the utilization of the expertise and sharing of resources. ? Coordinating site visits to customer/ vendor sites or vice-versa and establishing working relationships with all vendors and customers; ? Serving on Stage Gate Review Committee and working with other managers or teams as required to improve the process; and Develops the processes, tools and techniques to manage the teams to achieve the required outcomes, and to realize organizational and business operation goals by: (20%) • Ensuring workforce resources are in place and aligned with business needs and organization culture; • Managing direct reports, comprising of principle scientists, engineers and other business teams as required and motivating them to exceptional performance; • Provide direction and guidance for team leaders within the R&D organization in various committees, work groups, task force teams; • Promoting organizational change and adoption of common business processes; and • Resolving conflicts through counseling, listening to different perspectives and ideas, offering expertise, and defining objectives and overall vision. Creates an awareness of the importance of Maximizing operational efficiency within JH Research and other functional groups that work closely with R&D by: (10%) • Managing the effectiveness of the technical service functions which includes the testing lab, workshop, drawing office and building maintenance group; • Managing all administrative functions such as the HR, finance, and safety groups; and • Managing other functions/project teams outside of JH Research such as the C13 project, Engineering, intellectual property, and special projects as required. Quantitative Dimensions Decision Making: The Technical Manager regularly makes both technical and business decisions to lead technology and product development efforts through commercial release. He or she will regularly assess various technologies to determine the optimal solution for the business. The technical manager/director will not only be responsible for his team's projects but also participate as a peer on the management team to review other R&D projects. The Technical manager/director must also manage a team of highly qualified and educated individuals. This requires him or her to make personnel decisions with regards to talent selection, project staffing, promotions and compensation. The Technical Manager will also be part of the R&D management team that guides the entire organization through all aspects of running the business. This will require the Technical manager/director to participate in organizational level decisions regarding alignment, strategy and direction. Supervisory/Lead Responsibilities: The Technical Manager will manage a team of up to 15-20 engineers and scientists with different educational

QUALIFICATIONS: and technical expertise in different disciplinary areas. The Technical Manager is responsible for all aspects of people management within his team as well as responsible for leading and collaborating with people and teams outside of his/her team(s) without having direct managing/leading authority. Scope of Position: The scope of this position is broken down into three areas: People Management, Project Management and Technical Management. This person needs to become an expert in each of these areas to be successful as a Technical Manager. The person will spend the majority of his/her time performing analysis, problem solving and generating new solutions/ideas to implement successful technical projects. The incumbent is required to continuously think of new and improved R&D process improvements and approaches, resource management, and innovation for the overall R&D organization. There is a direct correlation between this person's ability to perform successfully and the successful performance of the company. Position Requirements Demonstrated ability to understand priorities, determine the critical path, develop contingency plans; Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others to do what needs to be done, even if they are not direct reports, as well as ability to sustain a team through difficult periods and still deliver results; Demonstrated ability to listen, to clearly articulate objectives so that they are understood, and to provide both recognition and critical feedback; Demonstrated Formal project management skills or equivalent experience; Demonstrated ability to lead high functioning teams and 3+ yrs experience leading a teams ; Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Basic material composite formulation, manufacturing and process knowledge; Demonstrated knowledge and experience in process and engineering development; Demonstrated knowledge and experience in chemical, physical and mechanical characterization of materials Demonstrated Strategic and Business Skills; Demonstrated understanding of business models, market segments, and fiber cement value proposition; Demonstrated excellent communication and reporting skills; Demonstrated knowledge of Confidentiality and Vendor Management skills; Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Project management experience (PMP certification is a plus but not required) • Technical management experience • Experience leading cross-functional teams whose members may not be direct reports • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and with other aspects of an operating business (e.g. marketing, sales, manufacturing, logistics) • Experience with Stage/Gate or Phase/Gate development processes is a plus • Knowledge of regulatory standards and code approval processes is a plus

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Material Sciences). • Master's degree, specifically a MBA, preferred. • 7+ years in a product or technology development environment, with five or more years of experience managing successful development projects."
